At LIGA, we firmly believe in the power of small actions to create a significant impact on our planet. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our new cork recycling initiative—a simple yet powerful way for you to contribute to a greener future. As many of you will know, we have been working hard to make this happen for the last three years and finally it’s a thing!
Why Get Involved?
If you are a LIGA stockist we would like to invite you to become a champion of sustainability and join our cork recycling scheme today. It’s free for you and fully funded by LIGA. When you sign up, we’ll send you a collection bin for your store. By putting this somewhere prominent in store you are encouraging customers to get involved, giving them another reason to visit and showing that you genuinely care about the environment, whilst helping to provide a circular economy.
We are after the cork wine stoppers, as these are the best type of virgin cork that can be recycled down and made into new products, and we will be looking to launch products for you to sell from this range in 2024.
We are also happy to accept end of life LIGA products as well, with these being sent to recycling. By working together with local businesses like yours and engaging valued customers who want to make a difference, we know we can create a positive ripple effect that will make a difference.
What Happens When My Bin Gets Full?
Once your bin is full, you can rely on us to handle the rest. Simply contact our sales team at sales@loveliga.co.uk, and we’ll arrange a pick-up. You can also drop off the cork in person if you happen to be passing by, saving on postage. We plan to store the corks and send them back to Portugal in shipping containers. There’s much drinking and collecting to be done!
Planting cork oak trees in the Montado Forests
By participating in our initiative, you become an essential part of the global effort to reduce waste and promote a circular economy. Equally important for our future we are pledging to plant Cork Oak trees. For every 100 kilos of cork collected, we will plant one cork oak tree—an emblem of biodiversity preservation and a powerful weapon against climate change. Your involvement will directly contribute to the reforestation and restoration of natural habitats, ensuring a greener and healthier world for future generations.
